Angry Transmission is DONE. embarassing

I was driving home today on a normal drive, and when i left a stopsign, a little tuner ran the stop sign and kept riding my butt.. so after two more stops with the same procedure... the last stop sign came and i punched it when i left it.. well i heard a nice popping noise, and then some grinding.. so i pulled over and looked underneath the truck, and there was nothing visually wrong.. the driveshaft was still in, u-joints were fine, no oil or fluids leaking... so i pulled off and ended up driving the truck home.. the truck pulls fine, but at take off it has a vibration up to like 30mph... and when the trans. is in nutral, or when the truck is coasting, there is this horrible grinding noise.. has anyone else had this problem? this is my daily driver... its a 2002 1500 with a 4.7... automatic trans..

Default Another good ol' dodge transmission.

I have a 2002 ram 1500 with a 4.7L and automatic tranny.. Today, i accelerated hard from a dead stop, and i heard a loud pop come from underneath the truck (i have the wall out behind my seats, so i can hear everything under the truck because of the vents on the back wall of the cab) and when i was coasting to a stop, there was a grinding noise.. The truck still pulls and drives fine, but while im driving 25 mph or higher there is a grinding noise ONLY if i let off the throttle and let the truck coast, and when im going under 25 mph the truck is vibrating like something is out of balance.. anyone know what this is? Thanks

I'd start by taking the drive shaft loose and checking the u joints for binding.

Is the noise there when you run the engine up in neutral at a stop?

no randy, its only there while the truck is in motion... i lowered the truck i lil while ago, what im thinking is that with me not shortening the driveshaft, maybe when i hit a bump while at full throttle, the shaft went in the housing too far and pushed everything in that transmission forward.. i pulled the driveshaft, nothing wrong there.... there is a LOT of metal chunks and the oil is very metallic... looks like a full rebuild guys.

ok guys, the axle is broke as well.. what in the hell happened to this thing? Gosh it broke everything from the tranny back... what could cause this? By axle, i mean the axle HOUSING is broke.. the stock welds on the bracket that the leaf springs sit on are broke in two pieces each.. this is devistating.. i dont know if i can afford this type of rebuild.. anyone want a spare truck? :[
