So what's the oil look like?

How do you know it wants new oil? The Change Oil light come on?

Give us a bit more info here. It may just be a matter of resetting the oil change light.

How many miles is 8800km, by the way?

My change oil message came on the FIRST time at 9,200kms, I switched the truck to Mobil 1 Full Synthetic @ that time.
Then I did the second oil change at 18,000kms NO LIGHT was on, but my manual say it must be changed every 10,000kms, I'd rather play it safe and do 9,000km intervals I've NEVER let oil go that long in a vehicle before?!
Mercedes recommed 20,000kms between oil changes on their products, maybe this logic is still left over from their influence?
I think the dealers must be able to set the oil change intervals when they scan the trucks? Seems to be a HUGE difference bewteen everyones trucks as to when the light comes on!
I figure I'll let the dealer change the oil until 100,000kms and my warranty expires, after all according to my service manual that's only 10 oil changes!
LOL You guys and gals in the States got a GREAT DEAL with your LIFETIME warranty's!
My truck is almost 5months old and has used 1/5th of it's Drivetrain warranty coverage Supposed to be 5yr or 100,000km whichever comes first

Bear in mind the DS Ram oil change interval is now duty cycle based, not mileage based as before.

I don't know all of the info used to calculate the duty cycle but I know that total engine run time is part of it. If I'm not mistaken things like how hard the engine is ran, idle time, and the temp of the environment it's being ran in is also factored in.
