Question Sirius Satelite Radio Question

We purchased our previously owned 2007 Quad Cab this week and just yesterday we tried to activate our Sirius account and radio.

Spoke with a Sirius rep and was able to open and create an account but for whatever reason the radio was unable to receive the activation signal.

After 2 seperate and unsuccessful attempts to activate the radio the rep connected me with someone from "Tech Support".

The only thing that he asked me to try was to shut off the radio and engine and open my drivers side door for 45 seconds. He said this was equivalent to a soft reset.
Still unable to activate the radio tho and that's all he had to offer.

Do any of you guys or gals have any idea of what I might check for?
Has anyone ever expienced this and gotten past it?

Everything on my Single CD, AM/FM factory radio works fine.

Maybe the antenna connection? I haven't ripped the radio out yet to see if it is connected but I will attempt that once I figure out how to get the bezel off.

Thank you all for any and all input.
Dave.

You should have the truck scanned for any radio related codes and to make sure everything is communicating properly on the CAN B bus network before tearing into the dash.

Sounds like good advice. Not really wanting to go inside this soon into ownership yet.

We are taking it in to get the running boards installed so I will see if I can get that taken care of as well.

Thank you.

Try a battery disconnect. Pull the negative cable, wait a few minutes, reconnect and see if your sat works then. The downside to this process is any pre-set features (door auto lock at speed, auto up or down windows, etc...) will also reset.

Lastly, make sure you have the correct SAR number for your system. On my Chrysler it's determined by a series of EVIC displays and button pushing. Check your manual for the process to get it, write down the number, then try the activation process again.

Your sat radio should get one weather channel even if it`s not activated. I think it`s like channel 184 or 188.If that`s coming in.You don`t have an antenna issue.

184 comes up on the screen, but we hear nothing, and that channel won't change, volume won't go up or down.

We never got to the point where activation could be completed, that's the problem. They sent out the signal 3 times and our radio never got the activation signal.

So let me ask this...did you get your SAR number (that's the receiver ID) before you started the activation?

That seemed to be key to the activation.

coast. The subscription service provider is Sirius™ Satellite
Radio. This service offers up to 100 channels of music,

Hello Micheal.

We went through all of those steps.
We were able to pull up the ESN/SID number via the above directions.
We called Sirius and opened an account. The final step to activate the radio was "them" (Sirius) sending out an activation signal that would send an activation notice to our radio display stating that the activation is complete.

That message is not getting to the radio. They sent out the signal at least 3 different times and they said maybe I was in a bad area and the signal was getting interfered with.

We have since driven and changed locations many times and still no activation.
Their answer at this point is that we should go and see the dealership and have them look at it.
