Default 2009 Ram HID Install How To

Had some time on my hands so heres the low down on removing your headlights HID install and removing the center dash to install an aftermarket Radio.

First off the Headlights:

First off you need to pull the plastic protector. 6 tabs total

Next remove all the screws on the grill to remove it to access the screws on the headlights.

Pull the screws on the front of the headlights. DO NOT TRY AND REMOVE THE HEADLIGHTS NOW!!!!!

Next go to the wheel wells and open this little door.

This little clip is tricky and why you do not pull on the headlight after taking out the bolts. Just reach in and push up on this clip It might be a little hard at first DO NOT FORCE IT. these clips are thin and fragile just wiggle it a little and it should come out. once it is up then its fine and safe to pull the headlight out. There will be a bit of resistance on the headlight all it is is the little knuckle that kinda holds the headlight in. It should just pop out with a little can of man.

Clip and knuckle

This is the stock headlight connection and how the HID kit fits in

Some tape for protection

Little blurry but after you put the headlight in just slide the stock connector back in the headlight.

Connect the other wires(Ballast is on the other side of the hole right there in the fender)

This is the ballast just connect the wires. self explanatory.

I just zip tied the brackets in because I didnt want to put any holes in the truck.

Slide the ballast in connectors down. not sure why but thats what was recommended to me. probably because it reduces the risk of getting anything in the connections.

Put the headlight back in. Make sure you line it up right in the knuckle and the clip. you will know when it is in right and it will line up pretty well. DON'T OVER TIGHTEN THE SCREWS.

OR

This will happen

Repeat for the other headlight. Pop the clip back in behind the headlights. Install the grille. Put cover back on... BOOM instant driving improvement.

The passenger side will be a bit more difficult to run the wires but its not too hard... Install time for this was about an hour.

Great info! Would give you rep but i've repped you out. Few questions for you?

What HID brand is it?
Have you noticed any warning lights on the dashboard?
Any flickering?
Where did you get them?

3B specialties HIDs. They added the parts to make them work without flickering and no bulb out light at all... 3B was very helpful. just let them know your year and model.
