Default Anybody ever run the 295/65/20 Trail Grappler

I was pretty sold on the Pro-Comps, but the Nitto Trail Grapplers have grabbed my attention. the 35/12.5/20 was what I looked at first, but seeing in other threads about spacers etc I thought maybe I'd look for something not as wide and as tall/taller of a tire. The Trail Grapplers are actually 35.5" compared to the 35s which are right at 35 if memory serves. I seem to remember in the tire/wheel thread that the height on a 35 isn't the problem but the width. I was curious if you guys knew if the extra half inch would be an issue, and also what the wear on the Trail Grapplers is? The extra bit of floatation isn't so much of an issue for me since my truck is lighter (reg cab/bed) I figured.

Thanks!

Luke

Well i think you will be fine with 35s on your truck if you get a spacer. Also thickness wise I have 305s on my truck and I do not get any rubbing but they are 33s. Now if it does rub you might need to get a spacer to give more room for those tires

I just committed to some today. The shop is getting in some 35s, I might stick with them if they don't rub the control arms. We will know tomorrow how well a TRUE 35 works soon.

These are the tires I'm getting. They are made by Toyo and from everything I've read and people I've talked to they are some of the best tires you can get and they are cheaper than the actual toyo m/t's. Don't get pro comp tires I've had two sets and they suck. They wear weird and the ones I had were almost impossible to get balanced properly they always had a vibration to them at 30 and 60 mph. My buddy has the nitto trail grapplers and one of his tires didn't need any weights at all and the other 3 barely needed anything to get them balanced. Here's a good review on them. http://www.fourwheeler.com/techartic...est/index.html

I know you are looking for the more aggressive trail grapplers, but for those looking at the terra grapplers I would recommend the Cooper Zeon LTZ as an alternative. I just went from factory machined 17's to a/m 20's and was going to buy the tera grapplers, but found the Cooper's and they have a very similar look, but much much cheaper. I went with 275/60/20's and $180/piece for the coopers from discount tire, they ride very good and quiet. Just in case anyone else was looking. The Nittos were $70 more each.

Cooper makes a GREAT tire. I really consider myself a Cooper guy, thus my loyalty to the Procomps. I was going to get the STTs, but the shop that I've been going to gives me such great service with only the few hundred bucks I've thrown their way I feel kind of obligated. Call me a sucker for Customer Service! :P

So which side should I have out...stylized font with V buttresses, or traditional font with squared buttresses?

Luke

Well, the 35s and the 295s are going to rub I found out. Even with spacers. I think I'm gonna bite the bullet and buy some new wheels and tires....see upcoming thread.
