Well, from what I have read so far....what exact type of polygraph are you looking for the answer to? Wikipedia, which is known for inconsistent facts, list the first polygraph in the 1885's measuring changes in blood pressure. It has been enhanced since then. Sorry Lady....still looking for you.

If your radio station REALLY wants to get sneaky, the first "polygraph" was actually a copying machine.......

REF: http://www.monticello.org/reports/in...polygraph.html

Jefferson and the Polygraph Thomas Jefferson first acquired the letter-copying device he called "the finest invention of the present age" [1] in 1804. It was invented by English-born John Isaac Hawkins, who gave it the name "polygraph." Based on the principles of the pantograph [2], it had two or more pens that were moved simultaneously by the writer's hand, making a duplicate copy or copies strikingly like the original.

Still looking for you. You have definetely sparked my interest!

One other piece.....

REF: http://www.umw.edu/hisa/resources/St...ph/origin.html

In the introduction to Marston’s 1938 book, John Larson wrote that, “The real ‘lie detector,’ of course, is a test, a scientific procedure, originated by Dr. Marston in the Harvard Psychological Laboratory in 1915, and modified and applied to police procedure by me at Berkeley, California, beginning in 1921.”

We used to tell our girls when they were toddlers to stick out their tongues, if a black spot appeared, we knew they were lying. It got to a point where they would just cry if we told them to stick out their tongues....they knew they were had!
