Default 4.56 Gears.....

Does anyone know how to calculate how much hp/time in the quarter mile one would gain from upgrading to 4.56 gears?I know it would be a signifigant difference but it would be nice to get a ballpark figure...

it's hard to say..it does improve low end performance and it did help me get my first 13.x timeslip...but as I modded up the gears became a liability and thus i changed them to 4.10's..

..but, with that said, 4.56's are a hellava mod to do...I'm for it...not many will mod as much as I did to not warrant them..

Those will be good if your hitting the stip. Your MPGs are going to be pretty bad though haha. I think maybe a 4.10 would be pretty good as well, since youll have better MPGs and still have a quick start

Well from experience in a mustang. They help at 1/4 but not so much from a roll. You run out of gear quicker. When I had my mustang, I raced my friend Rich's 350z. I had him from a roll, but from a dig, it was not a pretty win. When I did the 4.10s, I would stopm him off the line. From a roll though, I ran out of gear quicker and was actually slower from a 60 roll than he was due to the fact he can hold the specific gear longer and make a better pull. Just a thought.

Different experience here. I've owned both of those. My '90 LX 5.0L 4.56 geared T5 Mustang would have laid waste to the '03 350Z I had. I swapped from 3.55s to the 4.56s on a 28" tire and saw no mileage decrease. Only complaint was that you basically melted tires in first and second gear.

I swapped my 3.55's to 4.10's and saw about a 2mpg decrease. But lets face it, if I were worried about mpg I would have bought a Civic! LOL

I went from a 14.66 @ 96mph to a 14.20 at 95.76mph. I lost a little mph but made up for it in bottom and mid-range. I wasn't able to make any passes with my Predator installed but I will next time I go to the track. I know in my 05 Ram, my Superchips Flashpaq gave me a 4/10ths gain in 1/4 mile time so if the Predator can match that I should see my first 13.xx timeslip! Alot of people on this forum have great things to say about the Predator so I'm hoping they are right!

You do run through the gears quicker...With the 3.55's I would leave the trans in 3rd (so it would shift 1-2-3 instead of the stupid 1-2-4 skipshift these new Rams have) and it would shift into 3rd about 50' before the stripe. Now with the 4.10's, I have to manually bump it into 4th about 50' before the stripe! I don't think the Predator addresses this issue!
