Default O/D kicks off by itself .... same problem?

was drivin fast the other day cause my truck was shifting good...
like i posted earlier i think the bottle of TransX helped out...
as i got on the expressway the O/D light kicked off by itself, after driving for like
15 mins it turned off... while the light was on i tried pushing the O/D button on the end of the shifter but it had no effect.

question is what could cause this? is it still the govenor pressure sensor, and solenoid that could be causing this???

Ussually if it turns the O/D off light on and stops it from going into O/D it is due to an overheating situation. The biggest thing that can cause it to over heat is a plugged transmission cooler, hard ussage, heavy towing. Stuff like that.

do all these trucks have a transmission cooler? or just the radiator? or what? don't really do any hard usage and the only heavy towing i did was a couple weeks ago.. i did notice that day that when the light came off my tranny smelled funny and was really hot. how do i unclog the cooler? is that the check ball? thanx

I am having this problem also. It seems to be getting worse. While getting on the highway my tranny decide not to shift, i was already up to 55mph and the rpms were up to 4k......There is lots of slipping going on and i'm not sure why??? Could it be a vacuum problem?? I have a 2002 2500 5.9L

If your truck came from the factory with the trailer tow package you get the receiver hitch and an automatic transmission cooler that is mounted in front of the engine radiator. You will notice that the transmission line also goes through the engine radiator. This is to warm up the fluid in cold weather.
