I think they changed the location in mid-2006. Not sure which you have. Some are the very rear of the drivers side valve cover.

Here is where its at on my 2010 Gen II. http://www.ramforumz.com/showthread....308#post567308

At any rate the emissions sticker on the underside of the hood should show the location. You should be able to trace the hose from the air box to the valve location.

Have recently changed the upper plugs on my 08 4.7. Had a problem finding the plugs at parts stores. Autozone only shows the single plug per cylinder 4.7s. Not available through them. Napa does not offer them either. Oriellys do not have them in stock but can order them. I ordered them through Orielly,s. Upper plugs are OEM Bosch PN FR8TE2 Copper Core. Lower Plugs are OEM Bosh PN FR8T1332 Iridium Core.
Did not have a problem until I got to the very last plug on the left bank in the very back. The rubber coil boot was stuck to the plug. Ended up pulling the boot off of the coil. Had to tear up the boot to get it out. Made a boot from a peice of rubber hose until I found another one. The rubber boots are not available by themselves. You have to buy a complete coil. The coils are available through Dodge and Oreilly,s. Have to be ordered. About 35.00. Take the extra effort to lubricate the rubber boots before reinstalling.
Hope this helps!

I didn't know this engine had 16 plugs....so when do you all recommend changing the "bottom ones?"

Now I understand why the top rows need changed more often, iridium lasts much longer than copper.

I'm pretty sure it says in the manual/service schedule, but from memory I think it's around 100,000 miles for the bottom rows (iridiums).

Also, either plug will work in either spot. I have no idea why they put two different plugs on this engine. Maybe because we couldn't afford the Iridium plugs all at the same time. 10.00 per plug.

Do you think there's a benefit to running the iridiums in the top rows(other than service intervals)?

What about a colder heat range plug?

Good question. I am not sure what the benifit will be.You can go to the Bosch website and get the specs on the plugs. I am looking into E3 for the next change. Have heard good things so far. And they are cheaper than the Iridium core plugs. The only thing that I know about the Iridium core plugs is that they don't burn up as fast. Hope this helps

Just did my top 8 and right side fine, left side first plug freakin boot tears off! UGH!!! had to dig it out with freaking needle nose pliers just like the guy in a earlier post.

Then I ran a can of seafoam through it. Didn't do exactly like supposed to but I just slowly poured a can through the brake booster line.

Now I don't have to worry about bugs for a while! Freaking SMOKE everywhere! guess it was pretty dirty!

my 2009 4.7 has bosch plugs and can only be had at the dealer. about $120 for all 16 plugs. Ive been told there is not an acceptable replacement plug for these.
