I think that the truck should be fine. I have never had a problem I have an 07. Its a brand new truck really I doubt it would have problmes, unless the owner dosnt take care of it. Get all the service reports to see if he changed oil regularly. Not sure how to really help you out other than that.

Should be a great truck to have. Especially with the 6.1L, should move pretty good!

Don't hesitate to but the 6.7L cummins. To prevent emission problems, avoid prolonged idle and short trips. If you get it warm she will keep clean and run forever.

Welcome, don't forget to stop by the Newbie forum to get the official welcome

If I could justify having 2 diesels, I would be buying a new 6.7L (unless I could get a 5.9L common rail of course). My dad's got a 6.7L and loves it. The worst thing you can do with the 6.7L's DPF is let it idle for more than an hour; it will clog up and go into a 'limp' mode. If you idle if for a while, make sure you get it out on the road and have it up to at least 80km/hr to start the regen cycle. Also, the biggest wear on a diesel is during start up and cold running, so make sure you have a block heater if you get any cold weather. Those are about the only things I can think of as 'issues' with the 6.7L

Now, if you live in certain places (like Alberta) you can actually get a DPF delete kit and have zero worries about it and say "TO HELL WITH THE ENVIRONMENT!" while enjoying the black smoke and power.

I have an 08' 6.7 and LOVE everything about it! Very powerful. Workhorses. To coin VERY KNOWLEDGABLE member here, he said the worst you can do is let them idle too long.....and improper towing settings. He said the most common issues are owner caused. (I would've attached the link, but I can't find it). My truck has the Blue Tech emissions program.....no black smoke
But all in all, GREAT TRUCKS/ENGINES!

*EDIT* after some search I found the link with some answers you might've been looking for.

Welcome to the Z!!! Pretty much what I have been told about them has been covered here, don't idle too long, and get her moving down the freeway to clean her out. That is all....

Well I've had my 6.7 for a year now and no problems. As long as you don't let the truck excessivley idle, you shouldn't have any problems with any of the emissions stuff. I plug her in the winter when its cold out, and start her up and let the truck warm up a bit before I take off, and have never seen the regen cycle on the emissions stuff. With that being said I also drive 20-30 min to work and doing a bit of highway driving too.
