Default Ball joints

ok so my lower ball joint on the driver side is damn near gone so i just got my new ball joint press in the mail over the weekend and soon to go get the ball joint itself to be fixed now here's my question should i replace just the one or replace the upper also my theory is one is out another is getting ready to go out they all have the same miles on them and the same amount of stress on them especially if there on the same side. all the experts i've asked said you need to changed them both the upper and the lower on that side well MR.GOODWRENCH himself (the father in law who claims he know absolutely everything on a vehicle) says all you need to do is take that on out and back in its that simple. well now im asking the real experts to this question, now me and in my experience in ball joints i might just change them both.

I would change them both, I would even do both sides of the truck. Thats my opinion cause your right if one went the others are getting ready to go as well

Yep, both sides and upper and lower, might as well slap some new tie rod ends on there since youve got the tire off. Then go get an alignment.

thats why mine have waited for two years to get done...lol I'm going to do it myself, but, its hard to swallow that much money at one time.

But...I'm going to have to do them very soon, and stop driving the truck. Just today I made a turn and heard a loud pop from the front left wheel, and felt it through the steering wheel.

The steering is already loose (about 3" of play), and I couldn't feel it get worse after that...but, tomorrow is probably her last day on the road till I can get the coin together for some ball joints, upper and lower, left and right.

As a matter a fact...mine have gotten to the point that they don't squeak anymore...you know thats bad...lol

my thought is, as long as you have to replace the lower ball joint anyway, its already up in the air, tire off, & 1/2 way disassembled, its an easy step to go ahead & do both lower & upper ball joints on that side & if you have the time, money, & ambition, do both sides
