Default Dyno figures for 2009+ Ram Hemi...

I have a quick question related to the performance mods. Does anyone know what the 2009+ 5.7 Hemi Rams make on the Dyno? How much more HP would you make adding the CAI and exhaust, for those who already have the stock duals? What about adding the Diablo tuner to the mix? I'm not sure how many people Dyno their trucks, but considering the fact that you have a Hemi in it, I would think a few 2009+ Hemi Rams would make it onto a Dyno. Since there is the possibility of some really stout power from the new gen Hemi, I would think these trucks get tested to see what they can really crank out. Anyone have some hardline figures?

Do you know if those numbers are SAE or STD and what smoothing was set to?

Looks like some good gains for just a canned tune.

So you're making 305 to the wheels with the Diablo tuner? Do you know how much more you would put out if you ran the tune at the 91. I've read some other threads with people recomending the 91 tune. Just wondering what that would do to it. Also, sorry for my lack of knowledge on this, but if the stock claimed net HP is 390 what would that make the net HP with the Diablo 87 tune?

I have no idea. All I could tell you is I just returned the truck back to stock for a dealer visit and I felt the difference.

I am currently running a custom 93 tune.

Well, by just going off the graph and trying to determine what the hp numbers were as best I could, I did some quick calculations. I figured a 24.5% drivetrain loss (which sounds about right), which would make the crank horsepower with the tuner (87 tune) to be 410hp. This means it gained about 30 horsepower. Which is great, but what sticks out more is the torque curve. It gained more then 30 ft/lbs of torque and it starts earlier and is a flatter line. Keep in mind though that I took a lot of assumptions in when doing this calculations (I guessed as best I could what the hp level was on the graph, assumed the it actually was cranking 390 hp on stock, the runs were under equal conditions, etc.)

the gain in torque is very impressive at a much lower rpm!

I personally think Dodge inflated the hp number of 390. Then again I'm not sure if the 390is bhp or what but the standard drivetrain loss for an auto is typically 20% so with that theory our engines should dyno 312rwhp.

FL09ramsport has the 87 octane tune installed and another possible reason for the lower numbers could be fuel. What octane were you running? If it was 87 (vice 89, 91 or 93) and the computer sensed some knock it might have pulled timing. Also, it was a canned tune with some minor mods. Maybe it doesn't matter that much but maybe it does. Also, how long was the tune installed before the dyno session...did the computer have time for the adaptive learning to run it's course?

The graph also leaves a lot of info out like what was the air temp, humidity, are the numbers SAE or STD, what was smoothing set to, what was the a/f ratio (I see from the right side of the graph that it could have been graphed but wasn't, plus the scale selected wouldn't even show the a/f ratio)

My point is that if you really want to make the most rwhp possible, then install a bunch of mods all at once and then take it to a reputable tuner and have a custom tune written using Diablo software. The tuner can still save your stock tune on the handheld in case you ever need to switch back.

Those are some pretty good gains with the predator. I know they do say they add 20hp to the wheel

Well on Sept 1 of 09 the tempature was:

Temperature: 89.5 F
Dew Point: 78.6 F
Humidity: 91%

The Truck had no time to learn the new Tune. They installed it and ran it on the Dyno

I had good 87 octane gas in the truck at testing. I now run 93 octane with a custom tune.

I have never had a knocking issue as some others have stated. I think the A/F ratio came close to 12 at its lowest point, if that makes sense.

I am waiting to add more performance mods to the truck and take it back.
