Default Chips and programmers????

Most of the chips and/or programmers that I see advertised for the 5.9 are for 98-02. What gives? I have a 97. Will these work for my Ram? Or is there one specifically for 97 and back?

Thanks
Rusty

iirc SCT has a program for these years. im thinking its because the charging system is controlled by the computer, so the code is slightly different

Hello I'm new to Dodge. I had programmers for previous makes. Any recommendations for fuel economy and power options? I don't tow anything and rarely rarely use the 4wd. I bought the truck because it was such an incredible deal. Thanks in advance!

Hypertech makes 2 different programers for the 97 Dodge Ram. The only difference is that you cant change transmission shift points, or fix speedo for larger diameter tires. Hypertech Max Energy, or Hypertech Econ. Check them out on their website. Jet also makes a couple different chips, but I am not sure on how they perform.
