Default Gear Swap

I am working on swapping my ring and pinion gears and ran into another problem. I am unsure what I am doing wrong and cant continue until I figure it out. The crush collar in the rear chrysler 9.25 axle is giving me some problems. I braced the yoke and attemped to crush the sleeve but cant seem to accomplish this. The front gave me no problems outside alot of physical effort but the rear isnt cooperating at all. The pinion nut seems to start getting tight way too early. As soon as I have tightened the nut one thread the amount of torque required to turn the nut increases dramatically. Around the second thread i cant even turn the nut with a large pipe on the end of my breaker bar. The threads appear to be fully intact and I am using a new pinion nut. The front nut tightened much farther before the crush collar even started to crush. I would really like to know what is occuring. Any help would be very appreciated.

They're a real S.O.B. to crush and usually require a 3/4" drive with a big cheater pipe to collapse them.
