Default Has anyone just removed resonators

Has anyone with the ram sport with the factory duals tried just removing
the resonators and leaving the factory muffler? How did it sound?
How about the drone? I am debating on trying this or just going ahead with
a magnaflow and leaving the resonators.

If you have MDS, when that kicks in, it will drone and I guarantee it you won't like the sound. My buddy down the street did it with his and it sucked...bad!

He put an aftermarket Borla on his truck with resonators and it sounds good with no drone.

I don't have MDS on my truck and went with a Magnaflow single in/dual out (can't do a dual here if the truck wasn't built with it originally - DEQ Damn Rulez) with no resonators. I get a small, light drone at low RPM's but it's not obnoxious.

Thats kinda what i was worried about. Around town i usually shift it over to 5th so mds doesnt kick in but i do use it out on the hwy. Mine seems to kick in all the time around town if i let it...i guess its supposed too.

If you don't run in OD and keep it in 2nd or 3rd, you should not have MDS kicking in I believe.

If you get a good catback with resonators, no worries. Or, take out your stock mufflers, put in some mufflers of your choice and leave the tailpipes and resonators alone. That will provide you with better flow and avoid drone.

Swapped out muffler only on 2012 Ram Sport Magna Flow 18 inch .Single 3 inch in dual 2 1/4 out and love the sound.A little extra cab noise but worth it in my opinion.Go to you tube with your head phones and listen to before and after exhaust sound on magna flow.P/N 12278.Good luck.

i did it with mine at first, wasen't sure if i like the new sound or not under driving and acceleration condition,

however i did not fount it enoying when on mds

i run it like that for about 4 months, but it was louder than stock

however after i few month i decided it wasent loud enough so i decided to swap my muffler for the mufflex 24,

now i love the sound, my resonator are still removed.
