Default Aftermarket Alarm System

Hi all, just looking for any information on an aftermarket alarm system. I would like to replace the stock horn "Honk" when I lock my doors with a quieter beep like the BMW have. I am also interested in integrating my 2 way compustar alarm system(just pulled it out of my lease return its sitting in a box at home and i love the 2 way system), but would like to not carry the alarm fob and the plastic dodge key fob (at the same time). Went down to my local pro audio shop in North Vancouver and was told that changing to a different lock tone (ie with an aftermarket siren) was not possible due to splitting the output signal, and that integrating a aftermarket alarm would become a pain in the ass and very expensive.

Anyone here have any information on this issue?

Thanks in advance

First thing I did was put in a aftermarket Viper alarm on the truck. I just got standard locking doors without key fobs from the dealer and put it all on afterward. A lot of the good aftermarket alarms come with their own horn or sound and are pretty straightforward to put in place - sounds like you need a better audio shop to go to.

The one I go to here in Ft Lauderdale clearly is a little suspect in where they source some of their merchandise but they know what they are doing when they put everything in several cars I have had. I have aftermarket alarm sirens in all my vehicles.

Don't need Dodge to turn it off. Can be done through the EVIC.

I am guessing that standard locking doors are not power doors so installing an aftermarket alarm is easy. I have been told that it is very difficult to instal my compustar system. The shop i deal with is very experienced however they are telling me that there is alot of Mercedes technology intergrated in these new trucks, and bypassing the exsiting alarm with an aftermarket alarm will present problems. All i really want is to be able to change the horn to a chirp when i lock my doors. Anyone got some ideas, thanks

If you get an aftermarket alarm you will be able to get a chirp or something instead of the honk. It is also more money for that feature. When I got a quote it would be cheaper with the factory alarm sound
