i could only find this & i think the guy didn't type well, words are mixed a bit

very commonly when you shut the engine off if the wheels are turned if you'll get pressure back against the steering column lock in this will jam the lock cylinder. It's very important to make sure the steering wheel is in a neutral position when you shut the key off because when he gets jammed you could easily break something more seriously.

I had almost the same problem. My steering wheel was locked and the key wouldnt turn. I had the turn the wheel back the same time I was starting my truck and it finally came loose. You might have broken a pin that holds the steering wheel.

Man................Im just guessing. Have you tried to pull up or down the shift lever to see if it will move a touch? Then try and turn the truck on.I have had that prob. before not on a Ram but it did work.Good luck

Take the pressure off the steering wheel by grasping it firmly and turn it in the opposite direction of the way the front wheels are pointing. You are binding the locking pawl on the steering gear lock.

My wheels were straight to start with and I turned it left then right and it eventually locked worse in the far right position. I still can't get the key to turn.
