I'm trying to keep an open mind on this since I saw this report on the news last night...

http://cbs4.com/iteam/accelerator.pe...2.1569863.html

According to this story, this acceleration problem could happen to any car with an ECU and not a problem with the pedal itself. Now i'm inclined to say no, not my truck. But I guess you never know.

By now i think everyone has heard about the guy in San Diego that claims his Prius sped out of control. its still being investigated at our local Toyota dealership.
Toyota says that they pulled all the information out of the black box & that he lightly hit his brakes over 250 times & that if he had hit the brakes just 1 time hard, it would have cancelled the throttle by wire input
on the other hand, the Highway Patrol that caught up to him & told him what to do to stop, said that the guy was visibly shaken & that he was was pushing the brake pedal so hard that his butt was off the seat, & there was smoke from the brakes
its getting interesting
sorry if this is a thread jump

That Prius situation is a very weird investigation. They can't prove/disprove what actually happened. They've already questioned his story more than once.

This is some interesting reading. Now that this has been said, this alleged occurence will always bee in the back of mind now, true or not. My 09 is "The Family" vehicle and my Wife and Son are in it the majority of the time. So I can't help but pay attention to something like this. Maybe it's one of those random bugs that occur in random vehicles. To single out the Rams may not bee fair. Apparently it happened with the Hemi Engine, so that means it can occur in Chargers and Chally's as well. I haven't heard anything like that happening with them so my vote is a random bug.

I've never been a lover of drive by wire . To many things that could happen . It wouldn't hurt my feelings if they went back to the old throttle cable/linkage .

I have to agree....to many electronics controling to many important functions....without a mechancial connection to certain thing, throttle, steering and brakes....i honestley wouldnt feel safe knowing something like that could fail and because there is no mechanica connection there is also no chance of controling it!

Either way whether this actually happened or not...not pointing any fingers, as mentioned there are simple steps to control the vehicle...and you shouldnt be driving if you dont understand the vehicle...to many people cry wolf to fast!

a few stories from the local toyota dealership (gf stepdad is a tech) show some people shouldnt be driving...i have heard many times of people coming in complaining about sticking pedals....as the tech look in to fin upwards of 3 floor mats on the drivers side....or aftermarket really thick mats...most times i think could be ruled to a driver error not vehicle fault IMO, the best i have heard was he got handed a work order...complaint-hitting the gas pedal makes me accelerate...thats it....no joke! what i didnt understand is how a work order like that ever got past the service writer.... it just shows how un-educated some people really are!

A work order because the "go pedal" goes, now that's hilarious Ruffian! Now I just wish sometimes everyone on the road realized that!!!
