Default Changed the oil pan, now it Knocks HELP!!

Guys and Gals, I just changed the oil pan on my 1999 Ram 2500 4x4 with a 5.9 Magnum. I got the oil pan from advanced Auto, part # CRP19A. i start the truck up and it now knocks. kinda like a stuck lifter. I really need help here guys. Thanks a lot. Did i need to reprime the oil pump after i put the new one on? thanks for looking

Yes, always prime the oil pump before you start your engine for the first time after replacing the oil pump. They make a tool that you can put in an electric drill that will fit where the distributor shaft attaches. All you do then is run the drill for about a minute and that gives the oil pump time enough to prime before you start the engine for the first time.

Did you replace the pump or just the pan? if you did not replace the pump then it shouldn't have needed priming (no different than changing your oil) so the knock would be somethng else. this may be a little out there but what is the possibility your crank is making contact with either your new pan (possible baffles) or your pump itself (may have been turned from original position during pan install)
