Default Factory Shock/Strut Longevity

Hey Fellas what's the life cycle on the factory shocks and struts. It seems like after a week and a half with the new tires my struts and shocks seem worse for wear. It might be imagination.....but I'd almost say front end has "un-leveled" and the rear gets MUCH more axle hop. It just also seems by and large that I have more problems recovering from bumps and potholes.

I've got 38K on my truck and was thinking it might just be the extra tire weight has just made the shocks/struts give up the ghost.

Any thoughts?

Luke

I think about 50K is what they are expected to last but maybe you have a faulty one can you see any oil leaking out of them? check out Bilsteins if you get new ones the 5100's are great!!

Thanks for the info!

How do the 5100s compare to the Rancho 9000s? Do they make a 5100 strut?

The shop that I get my stuff from sells both the rancho 9000's and the Bilstein's and when the Bilsteins were on back order I was just going to go with the rancho's that actually cost a little more and he told me to wait for the Bilsteins so I can't actually say how good the Rancho's are but I'm sure their fine but according to this shop they've had better results with the Bilsteins. Bilstein actually makes a shock for the 1500's that has the leveling kit built into it which is kind of cool. http://www.bilsteinus.com/leveling/index.php

My stockers weren't in too good of shape after 36K miles but I also have a 3" leveling kit on the truck and the shocks were over extended.
