Default 2003 3/4 Ton V-10 Is this the right truck for me???

Hello Guys, I am the proud owner of a 2003 1/2 ton Ram with a 4.7L V8, and I have loved owning it for 7 years now. The Problem is that I live in Alaska and I will be driving to North Carolina and I dont think my trusty steed will pull my 27ft trailer that distance. I am looking at a 2003 2500 Ram and I wanted to see what you guys thought. I am wondering if there have been any major issues with this model and engine/trans, I have done some searching on this forum, but just asking seems like the easiest way. The bottom line up front is that I LOVE this truck, and pending your opinions I will prob buy it. Here is the add.....

I have a 2003 Dodge V10 2500 Laramie. Laramie means Loaded, Pwr windows and locks and CD player. Heated Leather seats and stering wheel mounted audio & cruise control. It only has 90,890 Miles which is low for a 2003, Everything works and it has a set of driving lights on the front bumper. It also has factory fog lights, 2.5in lift with 35" tires. the rear tires are getting pretty low so will want to replace those within 5k miles. It also has an aftermarket Exhaust that exits on the Pasenger side just in front of the rear wjeel. It also has some rock chips on the front but that to be expected after 7 years in Alaska. all in all its a very clean well cared for truck, the V10 has tons of pwer for pulling anything you need. Nada retail for March is $15,550 so I feel that $14,350.00 is a very fair deal, if you look around you will have a tuff time finding a similarly good deal. Its also kind of rare because this was the Last year that dodge put the V10 in there trucks so if you like this body style and Hemi doesnt have quit enough power then this is the truck for you.

Those are good trucks and it will definitely outpull your current truck.

I'd go check out the truck, get the VIN, talk with the owner about any concerns, ask for any parts or service receipts and see if there were any Technical Service Bulletins that haven't been done yet through the dealer.

Pull a CarFax on the truck and take a look at the report.

Do your own research on the truck for pricing at NADA.com and KBB.com

90K miles is low to average mileage on this truck so that's good.

Inspect the truck. Look for leaks, damage, etc..

You might want to get on a creeper and look underneath for any missing bolts, excessive rust, clamp marks on the frame, and just anything that doesn't look normal.

Thanks guys, so far so good. The carfax came back clean, and the only leak is a small seap from the return line on the powersteering. it does need new rear tires, but other than that it looks like its in pretty good shape. I think I'm a go for launch.

You will be passing everything but the gas stations with that. Good luck with it if you get it.
