so these oil filters have a drain back? That is what the sound is, dry start. Atleast to me that is what it sounds like. I hope it is something simple cause I am not having the motor torn down in my brand new truck. I will try to get it replaced or go trade it in and pry loose my ass.

What sucks is I really LOVE this truck, I do not want a replacement. I come from Ford diesels which I love too but no longer needed a diesel. This truck rides so smooth and the Hemi really reminds me power band wise of my srt8 Cherokee. Here are some pics. I am thinking of debadging it what do you guys think? and tint for sure now that it is legal here in Illinois

Very nice looking truck, thanks for sharing the pics and it sucks you are having this problem so early, but good luck and be sure to keep us posted on that!

Sure sounds like it could be a faulty oil filter drainback valve. If it's only happening when it's cold outside and the oil has sat for a long period of time, the oil must be "thick" enough to take some time to pump up into the top end of the engine.

Best of luck, it really sucks to have to worry and stress about a brand new vehicle, especially when you love it otherwise.

I read the thread with the exhaust bolts in cold weather. This is metal to metal contact and goes away after about 5 seconds but is loud enough I hear it in the house when I hit the remote start. I am a Chrysler employee and this is my first BRAND new chrysler product. Only othe chrysler product was my Jeep Cherokee SRT8. That 6.1 sometimes had a HEMI tick but this is a KNOCK on cold start. I really dont want my brand new truck tore up. We shall see, If they have to tear it down, I am fighting for a new truck. It is a week old and just turned 200 miles.
Sorry to hear you are having problems. Does it only last for 5 secs or is it sometimes longer ? If only 5 seconds it sure sounds like an oil pressure problem on cold starts. Get them to do an oil change soon, that banging can't be good. Hope you get this sorted out soon. These sure are beautiful machines !! Good Luck, keep us posted on what they find.

Oh yeah... I love when that happens...

You take time off work to drop off the truck, start it up and the service guy looks at you as though you are making it up!

Seriously though, I feel your frustration. If you are like me you get a bit depressed when you suddenly remember halfway through the day that your brand new truck is not running right. It just pops into your head and you are like "awww, crap...". It takes away the fun of a new truck.
