Not a tick out of my hemi at 7500 miles. Changed my oil again yesterday with 7 qts. of 5/20 and a pure one oil filter. Upon startup with a empty oil filter I did not hear anything. Try changing your oil and filter (yourself) then you will know what is in your motor. Run it hard to break it in!

4900 miles and no knock on startup on mine, Get yours into the dealer and don't let them give you "they all do that" BS, You need a full diagnostic check, check the oil pressure,It wouldn't surprise me if your oil pump isn't doing its job....

Mine ticks for a couple seconds at start up when temp is low. I wouldn't call it a knock; just sounds a little dry up top. I thought it was normal for the hemi.

Default knock issue

I'm sorry to hear about your knock issue. I just turned 3700 miles on my truck and would be really disapointed if my truck did that. I would start at the dealers and hope for the best. Like the rest are saying,..it does sound like there's not enough oil getting to where you need it for a cold start.
Please tell us more when and if you find the solution.
Good Luck Amigo,
Sarge

never heard any complaints of engine knock....as for the oil filter well i doubt it.....even being started with no oil you still have enough oil on the crank to where it wouldnt knock unless there was clearance issues....also keep in mind that without being able to diagnose the concern we really have no clue where the knock is coming from.....may not even be an engine mechanical concern.....dunno!
