Default new truck but want some add ons

I just purchased a new truck 2010 ram 1500 crewcab, I am thinking of a cat back exhaust from mopar along with the cold air intake.
Now if I do this what would I expect to gain. MPG? HP? both?

As you can see I am new at this for new vehicles. I have older mopars and if you get them to breath better then you usually get a little of both depending on how you use the gas pedal.

Does this effect the MDS?

Like I said new at this new stuff.

The gains depend on your driving style. If you're cruising at highway speeds everyday, an intake and exhaust will make a difference. A programmer might be something else to look into. All that combined will help your MPG and HP by letting your engine run more efficiently.

Mds will be uneffected . You would be happy with both h/p and mileage as long as you can behave yourself . The other thing all the hemi guys do is reprogram the computer with the Diablosport programmer . You can find one at RDP Motorsports (one of our vendors here on the site). They have a sale on them right now . Best price I've been able to find . Make sure if you make the purchase you get the cables also . Any questions just ask . Talk to ya soon . Tom

Things haven't changed that much. The internal combustion engine is one big air pump so more air in and more air out makes more HP and a more efficient engine.

The complicating factors are, 1) how you use that power (you'll want to, you know you will) which has a detrimental effect on mileage, and, 2) today's computer controls.

Tom made a good point...get a programmer to take advantage of the increase in better air in and more air out!

Getting the mopar cat back will net you some added HPs, especially when combined with the CAI, and if you're willing a tuner, they won't affect the MDS either. A cai/exhaust/tuner setup can net you around 50hp or 3-4mpgs depending on which octane setting you use.
