Default cant find the vehicle speed sensor on the trans

i got a 1999 4x4 and cant find the vss on the trans i already replaced the speed sensor on the top of the rear dif. and the made the truck start shifting again now i am sick of looking at the check engine light, so i ran the code and it said the vss was bad, so i went up to dodge and got the new one but i cant find the one thats bad, so if anyone knows where its at please let me know

The one on the diff is the only one I know about . It's possible it could be bad . Is it a factory or aftermarket part ?

Default speed sensor

I have a '98 Ram 1500 4x4. The speedometer stopped working. It was the speed sensor on the rear diff. It was a bugger to get out the old one. It's plastic and broke off. I drilled and tapped the broke off part and finally got it out by putting a vise-grips on the tap and pounding on the vise-grips with a hammer. New sensor fixed the problem (from NAPA). What was your problem? Did the speedometer quit working?

no the speedo works it just wouldnt shift into second i was stuck in first, then replaced the vss on the rear dif. everything worked for a day or so then the check light came on i ran the code and it was for a differnt sensor so i went back to dodge and they said its right on top of the trans. but i cant find it and the dodge guy didnt have a diagram to show me, so the part has been seting in my shop for 3 weeks and i dont know where it goes

Check your transmission power relay under the hood, they can cause all kind of weird trans problems.
