I'm not the best to comment as I'm an old school carb guy. Based on the numbers I'd say you want at least a 3.5" inlet tube w/ 4" being better. As large a filter as you've got room for and don't skimp on the filter.

Right now...I like the looks of the K&N but will likely fab my own.

Has anyone ever seen a performance intake manifold that would fit a 04 hemi ram, or is the stock one pretty much the best on for it.

Knock offs are cheap for a reason. I'll fab my own before I buy some of the garbage I've seen for sale on there.

Hot Rod magazine did some dyno testing on a HEMI (cammed it) back in Oct. '05. They had a production plastic intake make 476 flywheel / 455 ftlbs .

I know some take this to heart..but I know the 5 quickest na 1/4 mile qc's don't run cheap intakes. The number one guy runs a vararam and I know at least 2 of them run the BFI. When I ran an ebay intake, my quickest 1/4 time was 13.9...just food for thought..

if you account for the appox 23 percent loss (it's actually more) at the drivetrain... my numbers from my last dyno (on bad tune) at the flywheel would be 480hp / 508ft tq

the thing is..it's really hard to go by dyno numbers when comparing one intake to the next because you can't account for moving air (at speed)... so the numbers will be close.. so we (us guys that race) compare by runnin down the track and find that intakes like vararam and bfi do allow/force a little more air in which equates to the fast times we run with them (as opposed to the homemade one and the ebay one I had on previously)

Hmmm...food for thought. Nice little velocity boost funneling down like that (just as a good intake manifold runner will do).
