now we are getting into more than i know about, never replaced the pcm and not sure how to program it after we put in the new one. trying to avoid shop and my truck has drained the bank....lol and i have only had her 7 days i do appreciate your help and patience with me!

You can get the PCM and install it but your dealer will need to do the flash.

Thanks Randy, will call around tomorrow and see what I can find out! Maybe the dealership here won't charge too awful much to flash it. It has been a money pit since I picked her up but knew I had to have her!!

Some independent shops have scan tools that are capable of flashing the PCM, so check around. They shouldn't charge more than an hour labor at the most.

that would definately be helpful if it is possible to exchange them like that, I think I know where another 01 with a magnum 5.9l in it

As long as the part number is the same, it should work in theory. The problem is that you're gambling on getting a good one. I can't remember off the top of my head if a salvaged PCM can be reporgrammed with the new vehicles VIN.
