Default Check engine light?

I just got my Bad Boy out of the shop and it's running perfect but this morning my check engine light popped on when I cranked it. Like I said running perfect. They had the heads reworked and new valve springs installed. When I picked it up and the next day it was not on then I cranked it this morning and BAM there it was growling at me like a rabid dog. Any ideas? Or where should I start looking? It's still running perfect but I want it off (not unplugged).

Start by finding out what the code is. Could be something as simple as a sensor that worked loose or something more serious.

Can I get the code without going back to the dealer? It wiped me out getting it out of the shop and funds are almost nonexistent. What I mean is can I get the code for FREE.

You can try the on-off 3 times with the ignition switch or see if a local parts store will pull them for you.

you might try doing the key dance, it costs nothing but time
here is an article that you want to read, sort of explains it
http://www.allpar.com/fix/codes.html

you might drive to the auto zone store, although their code readers are often wrong
I see Remerson already mentioned that

It's not that their readers are wrong as much as it is that they won't read manufacturer codes, only generic codes. Keep in mind that just because you show an O2 code, the sensor isn't necessarily the cause. Codes are meant to be a guideline as to what component or system needs diagnosis.
