Default CUMMINS 5.9 Waterpump replacement

If anybody cares, I changed the waterpump on my 2002 Cummins 5.9 today and all the internet searches I did for instructions said to take off the shrowd, fan and clutch to gain access. All I did was unbolt the Tstat housing to swing the upper hose out of the way. It was one quarter of the work that the internet said to do. I'm a big guy with arthritis and if I could do it, anybody can. Just a heads-up, is all.

I don't even take off the stat housing. Factory service info says nothing about removing the shroud. Makes me wonder where these people come up with this stuff.

A bunch of the sites I visited were "pay to ask". No, I didn't pay but previous answers to questions are posted. These guys charge 10 bucks up front and give BS answers. One of the questions was about the radiator petcock failing to seal and the "expert" said take it out and blow it off with air. If you remove it it's ruined and you have to buy a replacement. Somebody paid 10 bucks for that POS answer. Anyhoo, my arms just would not fit between the upper hose and the fan shrowd so something had to go. Only took a minute to pop out the three bolts holding on the t-stat housing. I'm sure someone who's eaten less linguini than I have could make it in there without movin' the hose out of the way. This is my first Dodge but I'm gettin' dirty.

Well, I'm a tech at a C-J-D dealership and while I can't answer every single question posted here, I can cover a lot of the technical questions regarding OEM and some aftermarket stuff. We also have people here that are well versed in lifting, lowering, audio...pretty much anything you want and we don't charge a dime. If you like it here and want to chip in, you can always become a site supporter.
