Congratulations to our March Winner
And now a word from your winner.......
I am flattered and honored that my forum fanatic friends here on the Z would vote me in as the March 2010 Member Of The Month. For those of you who didn’t vote for me your votes weren’t wasted. There’s always next month.
A little bit about me. I’ve been crazy about cars and trucks – heck, anything with wheels – since I was just a little tyke. For the first 10 years of my life I lived on a farm. Any of you who have lived or grew up on a farm knows that EVERYONE works. By the time I was 5 I was helping my father, uncles and grandfather work on the farm machinery. You get to know the difference between a Phillips head and a flathead screwdriver pretty quickly! I was driving farm tractors at 8 and could tell the difference between a Buick Straight 8 and a Chevy V8 just by hearing them. I didn’t have to see the car.
Fast forward a few years to when I was 15. I received my first car, a 1950 DeSoto Deluxe Sedan, as a present from my father. Problem was, it was in pieces and it didn’t run! Dad bought it for me and it was my first project. I really learned how to work on cars, the value of my own labor, the importance of having a plan and reading the f****** manual; and, how to stretch a buck to get the parts I needed to put the car back together. At the time, I didn’t appreciate what Dad had done. I mean, what was he thinking??? Getting me a car that didn’t run??? Now, I see the value of his present to me.
I am married, for the second time, and between my wife Cindy and I, we have 8 kids and 5 grandchildren! It’s ironic that I have 8 kids (I don’t do the “your kids” – “my kids” thing…they are all “our kids”) as I am the oldest of 8 children in my immediate family. My Dad was number 3 of 8 in his family. See the trend here??? LOL
I’ve owned a lot of cars and trucks over the years, including some MOPAR products. You may not know it but DeSoto was part of the Chrysler/Plymouth/Dodge lineup for a while. My current passions are a 2006 Chrysler 300C SRT8 and my 2007 Hemi powered MegaCab Ram.
The RamForumZ is a great place to be. The growth here is phenomenal and I am constantly amazed at how the staff and membership help each other in so many ways. Many of you here reading this today have helped another member or have been helped here when you had a problem or needed information. That is why this forum exists – to share information, experiences, pictures, jokes and so much more. We are a community and we should all be proud of our forum. It’s the members of this forum that make it what it is…The Greatest Dodge Ram Forum on the Internet!
There are so many deserving members on the RamForumZ which, for me, makes this MOTM award that much more special.
BlueJet says I have to post a picture with this so be warned. You may not want to scroll down any further and risk damage to your computer screens.
But first, my dear sweet wife who puts up with my forum participation and so much more:
Now, yours truly:
In closing, I want to say Thank You All! The badge is nice but the recognition means more to me than you will ever realize.
