Should I use synthetic or conventional oil? I was leaning more towards synthetic when i took it apart It had some sludge from previous owner.

how thick is your wallet?? lol.

I paid double for my bmw oil changes with a 3.0l inline 6 at local shops and synthetic was my only option for it, compared to my 4.7l V8 at lockwood chrysler.

I like synthetic, but not too sure when you can or should switch over.

man thats a bummer on the motor. 500 miles to seat the piston rings will be good enough for a break in. but honestly you will see once i get my next motor built it will be installed and hammered on within 30 min. i belive in the "brake it in like you drive it" mantality. i am at 105,000 miles on my truck and it has been cammed since about 14,000 miles it has been run hard and put away wet ever since.

on the oil do as you please but if you stay on top of the oil changes conventional will be just fine if you tend to go little over then go with synthetic. the only benifit to synthetic that i know of is the fact that it does not brake down as much. other than that its all about the same. (BTW i just paid $130 for a synthetic oil change at power dodge and was pissed but that is a whole nother story)
