Default Earthquake SoCal

We just had a shaker type earthquake, they are reporting it as a 6.6 at the epicenter, maybe a 4.0 here just outside of san diego, ca. i bet those in Yuma Az felt it over there, maybe even harder
I need to check on my Ram & the Harley, as well as the whole apartment building, the owner is in the Philippines & his brother isn't here either.
there goes another smaller quake, whole lot of shakin going on

LOS ANGELES - An earthquake centered in Baja California in Mexico shook buildings as far north as Los Angeles Sunday afternoon.

The earthquake was centered in the Baja California, about 108 miles east-southeast of Tijuana, the United States Geological Service said. The quake had a magnitude of 6.9.

High-rise buildings in Los Angeles and San Diego rocked back and forth as the quake hit. The earthquake shook houses in Los Angeles for roughly a minute, and aftershocks then followed.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injury. KABC-TV reported some people were stuck in an elevator at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim.

The Los Angeles Fire Department went on earthquake alert and began inspecting overpasses for damage.

i believe the actual epicenter was just southeast of El Centro California, area called Mexicali, Mexico
I guess we will know more soon, so far 1 major shaker & 2 after shocks so far

OOPS make that 3 after shocks, this is more interesting than one of those coin type beds in a motel

BlueJet, I'll stay out here in San Diego, at least earthquakes only make things fall, where as Tornados make things fall & rise, ever see a vehicle in a tree from an earthquake ??

Tornadoes at least there is a warning and an idea where it is going to be. Earthquakes you got nothing,. Remember the pancake vehicles from the Oakland quake in '89?? No thanks......when it comes down to it, no matter where you go there is some bad natural disaster waiting to happen.

Going with BlueJet on this. At least a twister only affects a very small area for a very short time and you can get ready and hunker down for it too. That not knowing when and where an earth quake will hit would drive me over the edge. You left coasties are definitely made of different stuff to able to live with that 24/7.

Tie yourselves off to Arizona or something guys - we'll keep you in our thoughts.

I remember the '89 quake really well, I was living in the Oakland hills and my father was working d-t SF. We had to drive 4 hours around to take the golden gate to go pick him up with the bay bridge section collapsed. I've lived in high quake areas many times and you just don't think about it, when it happens, it just does... and FYI, don't stand in the doorway of a SLIDING GLASS DOOR

We just don't think about it much. My dad's a geologist, and he's living on Vancouver Island, which is expected to roll 90 degrees when the continental shelf lets go in the enxt 50 years... see him moving anytime soon? not bloody likely. We'll take some shaking over the twisters, y'all be the crazy ones!
