Default Pros/Coms For a Body Lift

Hey guys, for budget reasons, I'm thinking about going with a 3" body lift, rather than a suspension lift. I only plan on offroading through mud, snow and on trails. What a the drawbacks to a body lift. From everything I've read in our way, super awesome forum, I should be able to run 35" tires on 18" rims with just a leveling kit no probs. Is it even a waste to do the body lift?

If all you want to do is run 35s with 18s, then you don't need the body lift. The body lift will give you a much more aggressive stance, but you don't need a body lift to run that rim/tire combo. It's up to you, a 3" body lift with a leveling kit looks great, I'm a huge fan of the stance

I'm running Nitto 295/65/20 with a leveling kit. The Nittos run true and the over height is about 35.5. The only problem is that the struts can't hardly handle it and in reverse when the front end hunkers down I get a bit of control arm rub....but I'm getting spacer and new shocks to make sure its taken care of.

Only problem with body lifts are they are more for looks then function. Not that they dont raise the truck but in terms of offroading. They dont add any extra travel for offroading. Just keep that in mind. I know guys that have body lifts and go mudding and all that but also know there limits on going down trails. Body lifts look awesome(just remember to add black plastic around the gaps in the back frame rails or else it will look stupid).

Personally I love the look of any lift on a truck.

I believe our wheelwell plastic covers any view in which you would see a gap :-)

and I too am looking into the possibility of a 3" body lift to go with my 2" Daystar Leveling Kit (hoping to have my 295/70/17 Terra Grapplers ordered this firday or sat )

Thanks guys, I decided to start with the level kit and go from there. On Tuesday I'll be sporting 18" rockstars on 35" Trail Grapper MTs a K&N intake, (But I'm in Cali, so that is going to hurt me come smog time next year) and a Magnaflow catback
