For those with security option group don't have to worry...

OPERATION
The HomeLink® transceiver receives battery feed through the Ignition Off Draw (IOD) fuse circuit of the vehicle. It operates on a non-switched source of battery current so the unit will remain functional, regardless of the ignition switch position. It can learn and store three separate transmitter radio frequency codes to operate garage door openers, security gates and security lighting. The Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC) display provides visual feedback to the driver, showing which transmitter button is pressed. The system will not send operating signals if the vehicle theft security alarm is armed. This prevents a perpetrator from breaking into a vehicle parked outside a home and using the HomeLink® transceiver system to enter the home.

Thanks to this tutorial, I was able to hard wire my radar detector w/o running it along the windshield pillar and down under the dash.

Kudos!

Now to find a place for the GPS

It involves cutting the power wire from the overhead console Livelink connector and then splicing in a wire from the power rear window switch, which DOESN'T work with the key removed. It took me about 30 mins, and I will try to explain here how I did it, any questions, feel free to ask.

This is how i removed the console. It just entails getting under it and pulling straight down. It has 4 brass clips that have to be unclicked, then it will come out.

Then kinda slide it towards the back of the truck to release the little feet at the front, then the assembly will hang loose.

Disconnect the 4 wconnectors and put the assembly aside.

This is the connector for the Livelink garage door opener. You will need to cut the RED wire, tape off the wire that is coming in, and then solder or splice a new wire that will go to the Power Rear window connector.

This is what it will look like.

Then route the wire to the red window connector.

The wire you will be splicing into is the pink wire in the middle. Splice the wire and seal it up with electricians tape.

This is what it will look like when you are finished!! Hook the connectors back up, reinstall the console and sleep safer at night, knowing that if some dirtbag breaks your truck window at night, at least he will not be able to get into your garage!!

Does anyone know if there are any changes on the 2013 RAM? I'd like to do this mod on mine.
