I bought my truck to use it. It wanted to get another truck forever because I missed my old one and so I could stop asking for help hauling things. I love having a truck and driving a truck, but it is also a tool to help me get stuff done.

This week alone I hauled a lawn mower, mulch, a shop air compressor, and a refrigerator.

Mine's a street/show truck, but don't think I'm scared to use it to move friends, throw rescue equipment in, or haul a few hay bails around the ranch. I've even taken it to the nearest run-off slew to train the bird-dogs, chrome rims and all

I work construction so there is a lot of times when the bed comes in really handy! Also when I go racing I tow the car behind in a trailer, thats when I really put it to the test haha

Default Do you use your truck as a truck

My 2010 Ram 1500 was bought as a 'toy' and I don't plan to haul anything in the box. I treated my other two trucks the same way. With the 2002 Silverado I did haul a chair to be reupholstered and hauled a piece of furniture for a friend but that's it.
I like the high driving position of a truck and have no need of a crew cab nor do I need a 4x4. Snows and a bit of weight in the box have gotten me through many winters never once being stuck either. When I travel, my friend and I can get everything we take inside the cab.
The only drawback to having a truck is that I just learned from the news that come July the new Ontario/Federal tax will add $.06 per litre of gas meaning that gas will never be below $1.00 per litre ever again. Aren't governments continually diving into one's pockets yet never doing a constructive thing with the money just great?

Well let's see, I bought my truck because I missed having my old one, which served as everything from work/farm truck to platform for 4 July fireworks etc., and while I like having the option to haul/tow with it, it's just not as much a necessity for me as others. There is regular trash pick up where I live and the city gets the rest of the big stuff, so no trips to the dump, most of my friends already have trucks, some bigger than mine, so I don't usually get enlisted to "help friends move," although I did have to haul some furniture to my ex's house 'cause it just wouldn't fit too well in a Nissan Maxima heck, the couch didn't even fit through the front door of their trailer, but my Ram had no problem haha! I'm with 2010Ramowner in that I, too, don't need a crewcab/4X4. If what I am carrying doesn't fit on the floorboard, on the passenger seat, behind the seats or in the bed, I'm just carrying too darn much crap, lol!

So yeah, when I need/have to, yes I use my truck as a truck, not afraid of that, I just seldom need to.

I beat the crap out of my truck now because it's all scratched and rusted, but I'm in the market for a new one and I don't know how long it will be before I can bring myself to ruin it. They look so pretty sitting at the dealer untouched lol.
