Default Questions on mods 04 hemi ram

I need to know if anyone can help me out on what i will need to do a cam swap in my truck, i just want to do a mild swap nothing rediculous, but i need to know if i need a tuner or will the super chips programmer i got will do, and also has anyone bought the obx longtube header kit, and is it a good kit or do i need to go with the mopar longtubes or dynatech supermaxx kit, and also looking for a lowering kit, like a 2/4 drop nothing that slams it on the ground. Any info will be appreciated thanks.

If you've already picked a cam, call the manufacturer and tell them what you have in mind and see what they recommend as far as reprogramming for the fuel and ignition programming. Sounds like you have a good basic plan in mind to me.

If you want a mild cam, pick up a 6.1L cam, it swaps in with no need to tune it. You'll feel it, and in a week the computer's learned the cam itself. Cheffred had one in his for a while and says it was a great cam. Fot the drop, McGaughy's kits are great. Do you ahve a 2WD or a 4x4? If it's 4WD then all you got is a GroundForce kit, most others aren't recommended for 4WD.

I can't say I've seen obx headers before, but there's several options for longtubes like Kooks, Pacesetter, BBK. The Dynatech kits are the best in my mind, but are quite a bit pricier than just the headers themselves.

The obx is a clean looking header, I've seen it on a buddies ram and it looks cleaner then the pacesetters I have. As for cam options, I agree with CD about the 6.1, a good mild all around cam that is pcm and superchips friendly. Other options that will work is a comp 260 and the Fri sidewinder. You can call a custom cam grinder like Stu Hansen of Inertia Motorsports... and like Remerson said, tell him what you have in mods and what you have planned, tell him that you just want to use a canned tune from a programmer and he'll grind one with an lsa that is both pcm/tuner friendly.

if you do just the 6.1 you can keep it the same...but any other cam you would need (at minimum) to swap in 6.1 springs (all exhaust) and 6.1 pushrods and although it can be done with the heads on I have always pulled them to do it on a bench and also to inspect all the pistons..
