Default Emissions questions....

So, me being me, I research something until I can explain it better than an engineer. My question to all who've done mods (mainly performance, I'll get to the other mods later), do you live in an emissions control state? If so, how do you pass the checks? Mind you, I'm asking legally here; I know what my parents did years ago, and I'm just curious.

if you put a CAI and a high flow muffler on, would that make someone fail? trying to see what I can get away with, without having to put everything stock for a day.

CAI and muffler won't hurt your emissions, neither will shorty headers. Llongtubes, aftermarket cats, and deletes will. Also, make sure the ECL is off, and your EGR is working properly.
