Default Free Hemi on Base No Options short cab short bed 2010 1500

I've been looking at Challenger R/Ts and Camaros these past two weeks and am now seriously thinking about dropping the idea and getting back to just a pickup truck

Saw a 2010 Ram, short cab, short bed with vinyl interior and think this is probably what I really need and want...

The truck (with a 3.7L) is priced about about $20k minus 1k incentive.

I'd like that truck, but with a Hemi. I understand there is an incentive this month for a FREE Hemi Upgrade. though it's confusing as hell and does not work on the Dodge Build your Site. Cars direct seems to allow you to add the free hemi option.

4 questions:

1. How will this work? Will it be a special order? Basically buying the lowest end truck with only the highest end engine.

2. What kind of milage can I realistically expect from from a Hemi on the the smallest 1500? How good is MDS/VVT on a the trucks. I generally get terrible MPG on all my cars. The 3.6L on the lot said city 14.. which is probably what I would get average if I drove the V6 around anyways. Any gues getting 12mpg or less average on their 1500s with a Hemi?

3. Any good links to pictures and video a truck like this, with dual flowmasters? Worried it might be too loud. I like the rumble, but not the ringing in my ears from a loud hum all the time.

4. Will I be able to upgrade the rims if special order and pay the difference. If not.. I'm looking for 17 or 18 rim that will stick out a little bit. Something maybe black in the center and 4 or 5 fat spokes that flare outward.. maybe deep dish like... and lots of rubber on the road and on the sidewall maybe a 275/60 to 315/60 fat ..yeah old school (I don't like low profile or pimped out)

Thanks for any help or information!

Sorry guy, but I will have to raise the BS flag. There is just NO WAY you are averaging 30mpg+ in a Hemi on the hwy. Even in 4 banger mode. Its impossible for anything with the frontal surface area/mass/gearing of our trucks to get much better than 23-24mpg on average. You cannot cheat physics. I have a 4.7 w/3:55 gears (about as fuel friendly as you can get in a Ram) and I struggle to hit 23mpg average on looooong road trips.

You might want to make a trip to the dealer then, cause your computer is not calculating correctly.

If you have a 32 gallon fuel tank, and you get 30mpg average, this would mean you could go 960 miles on ONE TANK OF FUEL.

No way, guy. Sorry. Thats close to touching the range of a Prius... Our Rams are good on gas, but they are not that good. You need to do the math at the pump, then you will see your computer is feeding you a line of crap and you may need to take it in to have it recalibrated. Most I ever got out of a road trip was 600 miles (597 actually) and that was suckin' 'er dry, averaging 23.2 (computer calc'd or 22.9 by hand) mpg through South Dakota...straight, flat, no wind. After doing the math on that one, it puckered my ass because:

23mpg/597 miles=less than 1 quart left in the tank!

THERE IS ONE WAY!!!! If you are canadian and we are talking L/100km instead of Miles Per Gallon.

Can't go by the instant. You go by the avg mpg. Instant just shows your driving style and how it effects gas mileage. I looked at instant too when I test drove a corvette and it showed about 60 mpg, but I was actually getting about 20

Or if he was looking at the bar graph...ill give him that. He still isnt getting 30, but I could see how he could be mislead.

But yeah, you cant go by the bar graph. I dont even have one.
