Making your own saves you a lot of money. But if you're like me, and have no idea what you're doing, spending the money is worth it

I'm pretty mechanically inclined and could do it myself. Give me a idea on what I would need?

I made one for my Cummins with 3" pvc, tapped it for the sensor, rubber coupler for 3" pvc, and an E-2016 K&N ($50). I also spent $6 on some tin and walled off the hot air and some weather stripping from Home Depot to seal it against the hood and painted it to match the truck. This way it draws cold air from the finder (like OEM) and from the bottom, infront of the wheel well.

I'd post pics, but I sold the truck 2yrs ago and don't have any. The local dealer never commented against it for service either.

I've always been a big fan of anything factory or made by a reputable company. At the end of the day, K&N knows more about a CAI then I do. They understand air flow, sound, air resonance, pressure, etc on a level I can't even begin to understand.

From what I can tell, the K&N unit is the most powerful for our truck. I plan on purchasing one here pretty shortly.
