Default Question on Lowered 4th Gen

So I lowered the truck with the deluxe kit. I have 3 issues to try and fix before I make the decision of raising the truck back up again.

1) rear of the truck sags by about an inch. I think this is happening because of the Fiberglass lid.

Solution: I have a Rough Country leveling kit which I purchased and never installed. Plan on using the rear spacer on the springs.

2) The truck bottoms out

Solution: I could cut off the bump stop holders but instead I prefer to install some air bags, to help with the bottoming out, sagging and towing.

3) In addition to the above issues, the truck rides really rough.

Solution: New shocks

What I need is some feedback on the above items before I run off to do them.

Since the springs in the rear have changed, which air bags should I purchase??

Do they sell it with a compressor Kit?? I prefer this over having to fill it up when I need it??

Will the air bags lift the truck to the point I do not need to add the rear spacers??? If so how much fully filled???

Any info would be greatly appreciated. I have lots of other mods to purchase but I need to get this taken care of first.

Check out my build thread I installed air bags on the back. with the coil springs completely removed. I can lower it all the way on the bumpstops and just a tadd higher than stock and of course everywhere in between rides great and I can still pull my 1950 truck on a trailer and the truck still ride level and smooth....

the air bags are great to because you can fine tune your ride hieght. to the style you like for instance if you want a little rake or level..

It sounds like bags are the way to go to solve almost all your problems. They will smooth out the ride quality and adjust the height to where ever you want it to be regardless of weight. Now, you can get all you need from places like airbagit.com, and if you want, an Air Ride programmer with heights you can set yourself and it'll pressure the bags up as needed to maintain ride height. Make sure you get yourself a 100% duty cycle compressor and a 4/5gal stainless tank if you want to keep everything clean and problem free. You should pick up a 2600 bag since you've got a full size truck, and look at how much travel you want, then choose your bag accordingly. remember, the larger the bag's diameter, the less pressure needed to raise if which means a smoother ride and less wear on the compressor.

i had a similar problem with my truck. i purchased the airlift kit for a stock '09 ram. it comes with these plastic looking spacers that are about 3 inches tall. I cut the spacers in half since the truck was now lowered. worked great. no problems and the ride is fine. i dont have an air tank either. just filled the bags till i was happy with the height. for 80 dollars, its a great fix and you can install them without taking the springs out of the truck.. good luck

find someone w/ a small compressor, 1.5 gallon tank and a couple of 1/4" or 3/8" valves. Its SO much nicer being able to adjust per load as you ride. ie; mulch is much heavier in the bed than my boat is w/ tongue weight. I just hit the up switch and go from 50 psi for boat to 80 psi. 2 seconds and done. No gas station or quarters required!

I wished that was the case unfortunatly on the 09 and up trucks the upper arm on the rear suspension bottoms out on the frame at a little more than 6 inches of drop but if you could get past that the lower arm would bottom out on the upper arm not far after that. so we are still going to have to weld in some kind of after market four link to lay the 4rth gen on the ground...
