Question A question regarding filling up your gas tank.

We have an 2007 1500 Quad Cab. We've owned it for about 2 months now.
I have noticed that everytime I fill my tank, the little vent holes on the pumps fill handle seal spits and sprays gas out of it once the tank fills.

It only occurs when the tank fills to "full" and the pump handle automatically releases.
I have never seen any of my other vehicles (or any vehicle for that matter) do this.

Is this a common thing with the Ram?
Do you guys or gals have any insite regarding this?

Doesn't happen to me, maybe try a different gas station and see if its a particular spout.

It's not that. It happens at all gas stations and all pumps.

After reading through that link, his problem seemed to go away after the dealership replaced his leaky gas tank.
I have never smelled gas or noticed any leaking.
Everyone who commented in the thread was stating that gas would actually run down the side of the truck due to overflowing.

My tank doesn't overflow out of the fill hole, it just spits and sprays gas out of a small pinhole vent on the fill nozzle of the handle for about a half second as the handle releases and closes.

Very weird indeed.

My 2010 did this, I took it to the dealer and after checking with the District manager they replaced my tank and I have to say I have had no problems since then.

I gotta make sure I am not standing directly in front of the nozzle when it's done filling, I could get shot in the face with gasoline if I were. It's a very odd issue.

another thing to check is to make sure that hole isn't clogged and not letting enough air down the tube causing an air pocket in the fuel that expands as the hydrostatic pressure lessens as it travels up the fill tube, resulting in the 'fuel burp' at the end.
