Default LED Dome Lights/LED Brake Lights

Hey all, I have a 01 1500 and want to change my dome lights to LED. I've seen a couple write-ups, but they have been for newer trucks. Anyone have any ideas or advice? Do I need to buy special bulbs or will any LED work?

Also, my friend was telling me that I can buy LED brake lights that fit in the stock bulb housing. Is this true? Is there going to be a noticeable difference in brightness? I like the stock lights and don't have the cash to buy aftermarket tails anyways, but I would like them and the reverse lights to be brighter.

Thanks for the help guys!

-Kevin

You can buy LED bulbs that just fit right in, but in the tail lights, you won't see much of a gain, best to buy a whole assembly. Check out AdvancedAutomotiveConcepts as they have a huge selection of LED bulbs and they're one of our supporting vendors. The white LED reverse lights are crazy bright, and I'll let one of the other guys chime in on those as I went with full assemblies on my '07.

Are you keeping the stock tail lights, or are you doing an aftermarket assembly?

i have these, and but I need to know what resistors to get and how to wire them in, as I just plugged in a bulb and nothing.
I have painted the outside blue.

Nice looking tails Werm, can't wait to see some pics when you get them working. I have no idea about the resistors so I'll leave that for someone else.

I have LED brakes light bulbs and I love'em.. You do have to istall resistors though or they blink like they are on crack when you use your turn signals.

Scroll down to the load resistors part of this page for specs:

I have used Radio Shack's ceramic 10 ohm/10 watt ceramic resistors with good results in turn signals, Luke. 8 ohm/20 watt units will also work.
