Default tranny temp gauge question

anyone install a tranny temp gauge in your truck , i don't do an towing as of yet but i was thinking it wouldn't hurt to have one just in case, are they hard to install and does anyone know if they make a single gauge a-piller cover. if not i guess i could always do a tranny temp and oil temp , as i think the dash has oil press.

The Srt-10 apillar has a single gauge pod. Dealer has them for 80 bucks I think. ZL39TL2AA is for 02-05 , sorry dont have the # for the 06-08. I have a write up somewhere for the install too. Will have to find it.

the srt-10 gauge pillar fits all years up to '08. the autometer phantom matches the cluster best during the day and the phantom II matches best when lit.

as far as hooking it up, there are test ports in the tranny that un-thread that you can install the sender in - read that 3 is the one to use

The torqueflite and the 545rfe have onboard electronic sensors that start to force downshifts and other defaults at around 260. Can anyone confirm these 3rd gens run about 175 on a hot day towing like my old br?

I guess I always felt that if the computer was monitoring it for me and I knew the parameters....Im good!

Yes, that's a normal operating temp for the 545RFE trans.
