Default Media coverage of new Az immigration law

Just curious what the rest of the nation thinks about what is going on here in Arizona.. I think (know) we are getting a bum rapp from other politicians and states that have no idea how bad things are here.

I haven't read (red) the bill yet, but I am VERY curious. I will make it a point to read it today. I do believe we need some immigration reform. Not just open borders to whomever. I have a family member who came here from another country and is illegal, but the law is the law and that would be my dad. I also have my (maternal) grandfather who came from Ireland, enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp and fought for our country for 22 years and applied for/earned his citizenship LEGALLY.

*Warning: I have a opinion of the unpopular kind, so if you don't like the talk of politics, my response may not be for you.*

Just read an excerpt of politicians and media reviewing the law. This is my source:

http://thinkprogress.org/2010/04/25/...z-immigration/

Now, at the top of the page you will find where it says, "Right Wing Agenda". Labeling groups in a derogatory sense is discrimination to me. To say "if you appear of Hispanic origin, we have the right to stop you and question you", is racial profiling in a derogatory fashion, is wrong. I hear often about "Racial Profiling" and I am so fed up. Racial profiling is keeping us safe. If it was a group of white American women that caused 9/11 then I wouldn't be upset if I was being targeted and watched all the time. If it guarantees my family's safe future then so be it. Especially knowing that those looking to cause us harm are hiding behind and exhausting the "racial profiling:hate card" to get in to the U.S and abuse our way of life. It wasn't a group of cowboys that brought our planes down. So why target Cowboys?
Now, if "racial profiling" was permitted in 2001 those ARABS here illegally, wouldn't have been here, thus the possibility of no 9/11.
Just my opinion. If you were in charge of immigration or Homeland Security, what would you do? If you aren't part of the solution, then you are part of the problem.

Currently in Az if you are pulled over for any offense and have no drivers license, current license plates etc, and seem not to be a U.S. citizen you are let go with NO citations. Even if it is an accident and it is thier fault.. With the mind set that you cannot give a citation to someone that is untraceable.
Now if a U.S. citizen is pulled over for any of the mentioned offenses there is a citation issuesd. We all have to carry ID's, be it a State ID or drivers license, this law just effects those who cannot provide the very bacis ID's we all must carry.

This is part of the new law? I have NEVER heard of someone being let go with no citation or involved in an accident. Wow!
I will do more research when I have time NOT dedicated to our beloved website.

A good question, and some good points here, and Paris, I like the disclaimer in your post, but IMO, if the federal government insists on regulating everything else let's just say, why not step in and back the states up, the states who have to deal with the everyday problems that illegals pose and actually crack down on this? If we don't have the resources to keep them out, where are we going to find the resources to support them once they get in? One of my biggest problems with illegals, is they love to work here, but send most of their money back home, so where is the boost to our economy if it weren't for Western Union and money-grams???

Bottom line, if you cannot prove your citizenship and provide proper documentation to law enforcement, they shouldn't be letting these people go without a citation. Instead, they should at least receive a signed, stamped piece of paper sending them back home! Racial profiling? Maybe, but if I got pulled over on their side of the border, wouldn't I be profiled as well? I'm just so sick of the race/hate card being played in every situation. I'm just wondering when the powers that be are going to notice the ILLEGAL part of the immigration??? Ok, I'm done haha, enough of the rant for the night.

I just want to know what their defense is for being here illegally. On Foxnews this morning they showed some of the demonstrations taking place throughout AZ. My outrage is this, one lady held a sign that said, "We have rights too!" What rights?! American citizens have rights, not illegal immigrants! What is their defense? If someone hits me, I have a right to hit back...that analogy given, what is their defense for breaking the law, THEN mandating we change it for them?! I am curious what other countries policies are when you enter their land ILLEGALLY. Most I know are imprisonment! What would these other countries do if we went there illegally then held demonstrations, some violent and destructive just as in AZ, to make them change their laws to accomodate us?!

My turn at the podium
the Border Patrol, Homeland Security, the National Guard, & several other agencies are NOW doing a great job of keeping those illegals from crossing into the USA. That being said, in the past the Border Patrol were told only to count the numbers of illegals crossing the border, unless they were carrying back paks. the illegal border crossers pay a COYOTE anywhere from $200 -$500 to lead them across, then they have to carry backpacks full of drugs & a gallon of drinking water, using trails that only animals would use.
What the Arizona Law will do is attempt to clean out all those that are already across the border & are driving around, most without a drivers license or a blue card, they ought to catch them & confiscate their cars & send them back across the border by bus & when they try to cross over again, arrest them & jail them in a tent city, no tv, no air conditioning, or any other luxuries & let the Maricopa County Sheriff run it.
If they are going to lose their car, or a friends car, sent back or jailed in a tent city, they will go home on their own & less will be trying to cross over, word will get out fast.
OK, i'll get off the Podium now
