I just installed the ITBM today and it was very easy. I would like to thank all who have explained this install and where to order.

Just got mine in. Will install over the holiday weekend. I ordered the AH but was sent an AC revision. Hope my 2012 doesn't care it and works with the EVIC after flash.

Thank you Netman- Rep points added. This is why I use these forums.

Ordered from Mopar-Wholesale on Monday, got it Friday and installed it 15 mins later. Remove four screws, add one screw for the rear of the controller, and plug in two jacks. Done.

FYI- my February 2011 build Sport Crew Cab with factory Class IV hitch had both gray harness plugs.

I just got back from 6hours of towing my 3200lb Mach 1 on a 1000lb open trailer behind my 2011 Hemi Sport. I nailed the tongue weight and had no bounce or sway on the entire trip; basically I didn't know it was even back there.

The brake controller worked flawlessly. With the 7-plug connector hooked up, the display reads 5.0 all the time, unless I am using the brakes. Then proportionate to how hard I am applying the brakes, it reads 10, 20, 30, etc. I had one incident on a busy road where I was probably lucky to have it- I was in traffic and something caught my eye to the right... when I looked back, the car in front of me was stopping (for no reason I will ever be aware of), and I really did have to slam on the brakes. It could have been a different situation without the trailer being braked, and immediately, and proportionally.

I tested the manual lever on the highway and it sure does brake the trailer- you would only use this if you were looking to arrest some trailer sway by braking the trailer without using the Ram's brakes. But it's a good test to see that it all works, and that it won't throw the trailer into a sway on it's own.

I don't see why I would pay even $5 for the EVIC flash. I'm not even clear on what it get you- a row in the message center that I always leave off except to check tire pressure and temps?

OK. I bought the parts, installed no problem and it LOOKS great.

Questions about using it. Preface this with the fact that I have never pulled a trailer using brakes before!

Display shows the gain 10 as set when the trailer is not connected.

BUT.... when it is connected I get...

THe trailer and the exclamation mark on the bottom
and
The gain setting... 10 as i set

At first the SC (short to ground) error code flashed on and off.. Then stopped on the second trip I took with it.

I guess my question is. It feels like it is doing something BUT if I hold the manual lever the trailer does not stop the trailer, even empty??

Should say, trailer is a dual axle car hauler with electric brake system. It isnt mine so I can't be certain that the brake system is adjusted or works properly on the trailer. It has a battery looking unit on it that says fully charged when connected to the truck.

A couple times I would look down and the gain control numbers when the brake is applied would very momentarily show a number between 1 and 99.. Is that telling me the amount of brake being sent to the trailer? If so why has it only shown a couple times?

PLEASE help me to understand if I am using it correctly and / or what I should see when it is working properly??

Bw34. I am no expert but from my experience, When you first tow any trailer you should find a safe place and drive to 25mph and hit your brakes. If the trailer brakes lock up then with the + - button on your brake controller hit the - button so the brakes do not lock up at 25mph. If at 25mph the trailer brakes do not stop the trailer, then unjust the + to add more power to the brakes. If you load something on the trailer, you should perform this test again. I will be honest, I find it hard to find a safe place to do this at times. If you are seeing the brake number increase while braking that will just show you that your brake controller is sending more current to the trailer. Your brake controller also has 2 buttons close together when pulled together can be used to stop trailer sway. You could try this in a safe place to see if the trailer brakes will lock up just to see if the trailer brakes are working. The battery on the trailer may be used for an automatic winch to aid in loading a disabled vehicle. I cannot be sure without seeing the trailer. I am concerned that you did have a short to ground. I would make sure the wires, connector on the trailer are all good. Just my two cents. Hopefully others will chime in,

Greetings,

I think I've read nearly every page in this thread, and there's been many positive recommendations for the wholesale mopar site, so I called them today to ask and order a Brake Controller for my 2011 1500. What he told me was that I needed an entire kit ($230.00 and I didn't write down the PN he gave me) and when I asked him to look up PN 56029431AH, he told me that it could only be used as a replacement.

None of what he told me matches up with what I've been reading in this forum, so I didn't place an order until I came here, just to confirm that all I need is the controller above, as well as the bezel. I've double checked and have both of the 4 pin connectors in the wiring harness, both gray, and one larger than the other.

My interior is "Dark Slate" so I believe the gray bezel, PN#1EB13DK2AA is the correct PN?

Thanks,
David
