So, are you saying the ITBMs sold as factory installed units are different from the ITBMs sold over the counter by dealer parts managers?

When I went to buy mine, the dealer tried to tell me they only sold aftermaket controllers. When I gave him the factory part number they had no idea it could be purchased like that. In their defense, it's new and most people don't buy the factory controller afterwards, so unless they have a warranty replacement they would have no need to look it up.

Well um, that was about the easiest thing I have ever done. I read the install post w/ pics, ordered the parts, (both in stock locally at Dependable Dodge in San Fernando Valley), the controller part # posted is now:
56029431AG, and already posted is the # for the grey/black bezel:
1EB13XDVAA, took my laptop outside and placed it on the drivers seat and followed the perfect pics and directions. I think from ordering parts on the phone to finished install less than one hour, no joke! Maybe 5 min. to install.
Hooked up the trailer and drove for 5 min to check and calibrate. Falling down a flight of stairs could not be easier, (hope not to find out). Thanks for the time and effort put into the post. Pismo beach here I come! Dealer wanted $50 to re-flash, I do not see the need at this moment but if I am in for some work in the future and the possible probs w/ flash are worked out I may. Trip is in mid Sept. I will post if there are any problems. Thanks again. Oh and $: Module $142, Bezel $9.45.
Cheers!

Default Brake controller

I have read all of the postings and tis install seems to be pretty easy. I spoke to my dealer about ordering these parts and he showed me an inner office E-mail that claims the brake controller won't work but there will be kit available in the fall of 2010. Who was the dealer that added the program on your trucks computer. Can you send me their contact information. I would love to talk to them about this.

md99ram, break controller will and does work on 2010 and newer, if they are out, 1500. There may or may not be issues with having your truck re-flashed the get information to read in the computer and central display. Basically w/ the factory controller you get break control like any after market device w/ a factory look; functions perfectly. If you want to go to the next step then one would try to flash the system to get the trucks computer to recognize the device. Flashing, from what I gather is what may or may not be causing problems. I have used the device only 2x now, about 5 min each, and will do a trip in Sept., short time use but not a hint of a problem.

I have a question, looking to buy a 2010 Laramie this weekend, but it doesn't have the controller. In fact when I looked at the hitch and behind it, I didn't even see a wiring harness. If the truck was ordered without the trailer brake controller, would it have been built and shipped without the harness?

It may not have the trailer tow package (which is strange), but I think the two are mutually exclusive.

Hey,

I just did the install and it looks GREAT! Since I am kinda gun-ho usually and I love my new (4 months) I decided to play the calm and not mess it up.

Coodoz on the pix! Incredible.

I was curious about two things.

When I turn the power on the brake now being powered flashed the little trailer symbol with the ! in yellow on and off and says CF on the display. Any ideas what that means?

Second, was anyone else who did this disappointed in the front cover panel screw holes under the steering wheel? No washers or nothing on those little screws and the holes are SEVERLY messed up on mine. I was able to put it back on nice and tight but I was scared the plastic would rip through.... Anyone else see/have this?
