If the truck is wired, the trailer connectors will be just to the left of the rear license plate.

Check next to the license plate, left side, you will see 2 black doors, 4 pin and 7 pin are there.

After a fair bit of research it turns out the CF mean Controller Fault. Says in the owners manual to 'See licensed technician'... Had me bothered all night that stupid thing was busted.

When I got to work this morning, I reached under the dash and it turned out the small wire harness wasnt pushed in to 'snap' in place. Heard the click, turned the key back on and PERFECT! I am happy!

Yes, my truck had these screws as well. I simply went down to O'Reilly's had bought a couple of black body screws with larger heads. Even had torx heads to match the screw heads holding the controller in place. More secure and looks OEM. You can likely find similar screws at any hardware or automotive store.

I just got a 2010 Ram SLT about a week ago. Has hitch, 4 pin and 7 pin connectors. I would really like the factory trailer brake as I do a lot of towing.

I looked up under the dash and I only see one empty connector. Well actually I see two. One is male the other is female. One has 4 wires coming off it while the other has 5 pins inside of it with 5 wires going to the connector. The 5 pin one is fixed underneath the dash. I'll try to get a picture later to explain it further.

*EDIT* forgot to mention mine is a 1500.

Thanks,

Richard

I originally saw 1 connector. The other one was taped up quite well and until I peeled the tape off it wasn't apparent. My picture shows both after I unwrapped a little of it.

It is possible you only have one connector. My understanding is that unless you have the tow package it's not there. I could be wrong though.

I do have the tow package (transcooler hitch, 7 pin and 4 pin).

The end might be there. I will look a little more after work. Are they both male connectors?

The connectors should be female. The controller has male connectors in each socket.

So I did some digging... and cannot find the wiring. Guess its not there but on my build sheet I do have tow package with heavy duty coolers. I checked the 7 way on the back of the truck and there is in fact 7 wires coming from the plug going towards the cab.

Sorry for the shitty cell phone pics, but they give you the idea of what Im working with. I have one unused female connector and one unused male connector.
