I do not think so. When they go to the computer, they select it from a list of options anyways. Some forums say its XHC, some say XHCA, but for sure the XHC is the important part. The A may be a new revision, because this application used to not work at all, regardless of flash. Somehow Dodge fixed this issue.

Question NO Gain

I bought the control module from the dealer installed as instructed in earlier threads. (plugged in the 2 gray plug's) hoohed it up to my trailer it apears to work but no brake (when the the truck is slowing down the #'s will increase and then decrease as the truck slows) The Gain is set at -00- and will not let me increase the gain and with no gain no brakes. "correct?"

Please help me find the solution for this problem.

Thanks

You may have a bad brake controller module. I was able to adjust the gain without the trailer connected and without the dashboard even programmed. You may want to return it and get another one, as something just doesn't sound right.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to get the bezel and controller? Canadian prices are way up there at the dealerships for stuff like this..

I went to my dealership to order one today and they gave me this tech tip. They couldn't provide me with a date the kit would come out. I went ahead and ordered it, I have faith based on this thread it will work.

Can I ask which buttons you are using to adjust gain? Arrow buttons on the steering wheel or the +/- buttons on the controller itself?

Default trailer brake dont work

Can some one help me? I have a 2010 Ram 1500 I went through all of the installation instructions as posted in the earlier threads for the trailer brake controller. The dealer flashed the computer. Everything seems to work visually, Such as the on dash display and the control module it self seems to indicate that everything is working fine. The problem is that there is still no brake. The gain on the controller is showing 0.0 and will not increase. I'm not sure but I think that there is something wrong with the controller it self. The dealer can't or won't test it for me. Is there any way that I can test this controller myself. If any one know anything Please let me know.

I tried the controller +/- first then tried the steering +/- controls and still nothing.

If the controller doesn't respond to the +/- gain control buttons, I would assume something is wrong with it. It should be warrentied. I'd return it to the parts counter for an exchange.

Actually, I would first un- and then re-install the controller to make sure that both harness plugs and each wire in both plugs are securely seated in the controller. This could be a minor wiring glitch caused by a bent pin or broken wire. You can also use a multimeter to check voltage and grounds of the leads as described in earlier posts of this thread. Then take it back if you can't make it work.
