I hate to hear stories like that! I am glad that everyone is alright! It does blow when the truck is damaged but if the family is ok that is all that matters. If you plan on fixing it up let us know and good luck with everything!!!

How bad is it? frame twisted and cab done? Hope everyone's alright, and if they do write it off, don't forget to remove what mods you can... for the next truck.

here is the story.
Quote:
So there I was, minding my own business waiting on a light to change green. (I had been waiting for a good 60 to 90 seconds) and all of a sudden I hear screech and then bang and I'm in the middle of the intersection. After about 20 cuss words, and a calming breath. I step out of the truck and see a car that has been caved in. the driver is slumped over the steering wheel not moving. I run over to see if they are ok. And he was fine he just felt bad that he hit my truck. And immediately apologized. This all happened at midnight. He was not drunk or drinking just failed to stop in time. (Probably texting someone or something like that) after the police arrived everything was resolved I got all his info and he got mine. I called the insurance and I'm waiting for them to call me back, after they contact the other guy. Hopefully I will get a call soon and can be in a rental on Monday. I have had a while to think about the truck and what I want to do. I am hoping it’s a total so that I can buy it back. Then I will be going one of 2 ways. Either pulling the drive train and dropping it into a fox body mustang, or building up the truck with an old school 440CI stroker a 727 trans and a ford 9inch tubbed rear end. (And take it full race) we will see what happens…….
we will see how it goes. i have been looking for a replacement all day today. I have seen a few trucks that i like, but i keep compairing them to what i lost and cant find anything that i want. my wife is likeing the silverado 2500 with the durmax, but we both like the powerstrokes, so we will see who this ends up. i would really like another ram but i cant find a cummins that i can afford. im really thinking about buying an oil burner, so that i can build up a race car (using the hemi drivetrain to power it) then if i go that route i will have a tow rig for my car. we will see though.

keep in mind the rear axle was hit. my traction bars were bent. the drivers seat is broken, the trans probably has some damage(due to the driveshaft moving forward after the axle was hit), then there is the bed tailgate, cab, roll pan, probably bent spring perches, the axle appears to be sitting at an angle when viewed from the side. (not centered in the undamaged wheel well) so we will see how it ends up. but more than likely i have over $10K in damage on a truck that is worth maybe $13. (then look at all the stuff i have added to it. i have close to or over $10K in aftermarket parts in the truck. i have almost $2000 in nitrous alone.

I'm fine. Not sore at all. We picked up an f150 rental truck today, and I have not been in it nor do I plan on getting in it. Those things are evil. I looked at a 08 cummins 4x4 today it was a nice truck but not mine. My 04 will be hard to replace. I loved that truck. It had my heart and sole in it. Allong with at least 1000 hours of labor over the last 5 years. The next mod was going to be the 09 and up rear suspension as I have acquired about all the needed parts for the swap. Now I'm going to buy it back (assuming I'm correct andits totaled) and build up a hemi stang. We will see though.

on the question of a trans I will use the trans in the stang or I'll sell it as a core. And bolt a 727 to the motor.
