Default MPG Convresion help needed

The Canadian trucks do not show your MPG.

It is calculated differently. It shows how many LITRES of fuel are used PER 100KM.

So for example, my Ram is showing that it currently takes 15.5 Litres of gas to travel 100Kilometers. While you guys are looking for a HIGHER number on your MPG, I am looking for a LOWER number, as mine refers to the AMOUNT of fuel used.

Does anyone have any idea how I can convert into MPG?

My EVIC reads the following mileage: 15.5L /100KM. How do I convert this, to see what I am getting in MPG? This would be helpful, so I can compare with the rest of you.

Any ideas???

(damn Metric... lol)

Just a stab....do you have the option available to change your evic settings? I thought I did on mine. Now, I have an o8' so things might be different. I could very well be wrong, just taking a guess.

I have 2009 and this is how you change it .

1. turn key to on position
2. press the down arrow three times " left side of steering wheel "
3. then press right arrow once "right hand side of steering wheel "

Thats how you do it on my model .

Default Math conversion

If your like me, and prefer to keep the readings in metric, you can do a little math (Insert 'YUCK' here)

292.5 divided by L/100kms = MPG (Imperial gallons)
-or-
If you set in to 'non-metric', but want to know the MPG in imperial rather than US gallons, AND do the math in your head on the fly.....

MPG US + 1 for every 4mpg = MPG (Imperial)....or at least relatively close.
eg. 16mpg us = about 20mpg imperial
eg2. 20mpg us = about 25mpg imperial

Thanks guys. I never even thought to switch the truck to imperial from Metric...

...in the end though I went with the math route (and I would NEVER have figured it out without help, so thanks).

So now I know I'm getting about 19MPG. Should I be happy about this or was ignorance bliss????

19MPG is pretty good. Is that highway or mixed/city driving?

My last trip my mpg hovered between 9.9 l/100km to 10.0 l/100km! Now my speed varied between 90-100km/h (no I am not that much of a speed freak) that is the best I can do, however on a side note at 115km/h I averaged 11.7 l/100km. Not too shabby!

Geeze... thats really good. After a long trip along the 401 I see mine average mileage drop to 14L/100km. After some city driving, however, it creeps back to 15 or 16L/100km.

Then again, I don't reset the calculator, so thats how it affects lifetime mileage (had the truck about 6 months). Did you reset it before those mileage readings?
